Primping the outdoors {and showing off our outdoor firepit and new view}

Here is our 2nd big project of the summer: an outdoor firepit.

I don't have a "before" picture, but just picture lots of dirt and weeds!  We added a circular brick base to set the brick firepit on, then added grass around it for low maintenance.

Wow, we love it so much. And so do the chickens (who are getting big fast) and who are often seen perched on top of the pit.

Here's the chicken coop you can see in the background (which was our 1st big project of the summer).  Check out the full coop post here.

So far this summer we've enjoyed roasting hot dogs and smores, and had a bonfire or two.  I hope to venture on to tin foil dinners and maybe dutch oven cooking if I can work up the nerve.

For now, we're loving the new "view".

adding colorful bunting to my front porch

I finally finished it.  This bunting has been sitting next to my sewing machine for a couple of months now.

After seeing this neighbor's porch I was inspired to sit down and get it done.

I wanted to keep the front porch simple so all I did was set my turquoise table next to these red adirondack chairs that I've had out here for years,

and add my freshly sewn bunting.

What you can't see here is my 9 year-old daughter pushing a big branch up out of the way so I can get a decent picture.

I picked all my favorite fabrics from my stash--I like the mismatched look it gives.

This is my last porch post I'll be doing this year.  If you missed my back porch, this cute blue one, or this charmingly colorful one, be sure to check them out.

I like how it turned out, simple yet colorful.

Also, I found the coolest free eye chart maker here. I'm going to make one for my home, but not sure what I want it to say yet. Here is one I made to remind you to get those projects ready for Wednesday's linky party!

feathers and a lovely porch

This is porch #3 on a series of porch posts I've done this summer. If you missed my back porch or this cute blue one, be sure to check them out.

I found this cute porch one day,

while getting this little girl some feathers for her hair, which seem to be all the rage.  She chose a blue and green one, which incidentally match her pet bird "Chip" perfectly.

This salon always has some great inspiration, inside, and out.
Love the vintage suitcase planter, and the large chalkboard sign,

a colorful mix of chairs,

and a fun ornate frame to {primp} the door.

The mustard yellow chandelier is the icing on the cake.

It's not too late--if you have something to share, head over here to my linky party.

Also, I finally did it--{Primp}is now on facebook. If you are a fan of FB, I would love it if you would like me!

cute blue porch with bunting

I just had to show you a picture of a neighbor's super cute porch.
It is a beautiful house to begin with, but one day I drove by and noticed they had painted the porch blue and added the blue and red bunting.  I just love it.

Now I'm off to finish a similar bunting, that's been sitting next to my sewing machine for a couple of months now, to add to my front porch. Sometimes you need a little inspiration to get you going and complete all those unfinished projects laying around.
I {primp}ed my back porch, now I'm off to work on the front.

until next time,

P.S. Got something to share?  Join my linky party here.  There was a little snafu with the link earlier but it's working good now. Go here to view it.

another use for boots

Okay, so what do you do when you buy the cutest boots in the spring for your daughter to wear in the fall and when you pull them out you realize they are both the right foot and you cannot return or exchange them?  Well, you make them into a planter of course!

True story.  These were too cute to toss so I decided to punch some holes in the bottom and turn them into a home for pretty flowers.  Just add dirt, flowers and water often.
Now, I get to look at them daily on my
newly {primp}ed porch.
