When I found this basket at the thrift store it was plain and boring--but I loved it's shape and size. (Sorry I forgot to take a before pic.)
I gave it a white washing with a little paint and added some numbers using homemade stencils. (My husband and I celebrated our 16th anniversary this year!)
I think the white wash and number give it a more aged look, and adds a bit of farmhouse charm I'm going for in my home.
I shall! Cute basket--we're 16-year-ers too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your basket!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteOooh, it's loooovely! I love the effect that the white paint has had on the wicker. And that's so romantic! Congratulations on your 16 years together!

i just did a basket almost identical to this one! I sprayed mine with a gray-ish paint and painted on two sets on numbers in black....the basket came from my mom's house when we moved her to assisted living and i painted the number 39 on one side and 14 on the other....which was her house number. I thought it was appropriate since it had been in her home for 40 years!
ReplyDeleteI haven't posted pics of it yet but I will be in the near future.
BTW, your basket turned out beautiful!
Judy
