You may have seen glimpses of her before showcasing my vignettes, but I've never properly introduced her...
This is Anne.
This is what she looked like when I found her.
I loved the curve of her legs, and especially the detail of the key holes.
I painted her a pretty cream but left the top alone, adding only a warm wood stain.
Two of the knobs were damaged which allowed me to add some cute glass ones at the top. The existing ones were a brassy color which seemed too bold, so I dry brushed some paint on them so only a little bit of the brass showed through.
I couldn't let Anne go without introducing her--she will soon be replaced with a buffet I am currently working on in the garage.
Also, big news (for me), next week marks my 1 year blogiversary. Enter my giveaway to celebrate--it's like Oprah's favorite things--well, kind of--more like a few of Primp's favorite things.
She's very classy, how can you let her go!

I have a dresser almost exactly like that, except Anne has curvier legs! My folks bought it at a garage sale just after they were married in 1950. It sat in our garage as my Dad's tool chest for years, and I got it last July when he put it in a garage sale. It's completely painted in yellow and green LEAD paint, and I've been going back and forth on how to finish it. Thanks for the inspiration -- now I know what I want to do. It's beautiful!

Love your post AND dresser. Had to chuckle... about your "lady Anne." My fixer-uppers are all women too. I recently talked about a buffet that I painted white in my latest post and refered to it as a "she with curvy legs." Anne's new look is stunning. She's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteI am featuring this gorgeous dresser at my Swing into Spring party tonight (link opens at 8pm EST). Please stop by and pick up an I've Been Featured button. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind me asking, what paint did you use to refinish her? Thanks!
