thanksgiving bunting

Here's an easy thanksgiving bunting I made last year, but updated just a little.

The original pattern, that can be printed off for free, has really cute fall plaids and burlap designs.  Since I only have a black and white printer, I had to improvise.

I just printed it off in black and white and added my own burlap, and old book and music pages for depth and interest.

The neutral colors go good with my already neutral fall mantel.

Best of all, most of the work is done for you. Just print it out and start cutting.

Here's what the bunting looks like in it's color form:
{cute plaids!}

scalloped map bunting

I'm still working on the boys' room redo.  I made a scalloped map bunting from an old atlas I found while thrifting.

I thought the boys' room would be the perfect place for it to go, along with their collection of globes.
I just have to finish painting the closet doors and install an old light fixture.

Then a little more primping and it should be all done.  I'm hoping to show it off next week.

Because this bunting was so fun to make, I made an extra one for my etsy shop.  I'm also adding some new {old} finds today, go check it out here.

keep primping,

P.S.  My Primp your stuff Wednesday linky party opens tonight!

adding colorful bunting to my front porch

I finally finished it.  This bunting has been sitting next to my sewing machine for a couple of months now.

After seeing this neighbor's porch I was inspired to sit down and get it done.

I wanted to keep the front porch simple so all I did was set my turquoise table next to these red adirondack chairs that I've had out here for years,

and add my freshly sewn bunting.

What you can't see here is my 9 year-old daughter pushing a big branch up out of the way so I can get a decent picture.

I picked all my favorite fabrics from my stash--I like the mismatched look it gives.

This is my last porch post I'll be doing this year.  If you missed my back porch, this cute blue one, or this charmingly colorful one, be sure to check them out.

I like how it turned out, simple yet colorful.

Also, I found the coolest free eye chart maker here. I'm going to make one for my home, but not sure what I want it to say yet. Here is one I made to remind you to get those projects ready for Wednesday's linky party!
