a little blue table inspired by Miss Mustard Seed

I'm lucky enough to be guest posting over at Redoux today (go check out Karen's blog for tons of inspiration).   Here's a cute end table that I recently {primp}ed.  I think I'll call her Miss Beadle in honor of my inspirations.
The first being the well remembered teacher of Walnut Grove, the second is the other famous 'Miss'--Mustard Seed of course.
I decided to give it an update in true Miss Mustard Seed style, with paint and lots of detailing.
Here's the before, so you can truly appreciate how far she's come.

I knew this piece would be perfect for the white detailing with its grooves and edges.
I sanded generously, then added an antiquing stain over the whole thing.

Then with a flat brush, I added the white paint in the grooves and along the edging.

When I decide on buying a piece in its before-state, I look at the lines and details of a piece. This one had a great curvy bottom and pretty feet.
I had a couple of different ideas for the pulls, but in the end I chose these glass ones because they were the perfect size, and I didn't want to mess with filling and drilling holes.
I'm glad I did. The distressing and pretty glass knobs are a perfect combination, don't you agree?
I think Miss Beadle turned out pretty purdy--what do you think? I hope this gives you some of your own inspiration to find something to {primp}.

gallery mirror wall

I recently {primp}ed a plain and boring wall using simple and framed mirrors.
It is a work in progress, and will change as I find new ones to add to it.
These mirrors were all found at the thrift store on different occasions.

I wanted a random looking placement on this wall above my staircase that goes to the basement.  I like how it gives some interest to an otherwise blank wall, and how you can catch a glimpse of my mantel.

Also, thanks to Nataly of Beautifully Elegant for this vintage key necklace, and to Amy of Momma Hen for hosting the giveaway--it's beautiful!
Now, go and primp something!

{Primp} your stuff Wednesday linky party #3

Welcome to the 3rd {Primp} your stuff Wednesday Linky Party!  I've had so much fun looking at all the linkups from last week and finding new blogs to follow.  Here are some of my favorites from last week's linkup:

Restore Interiors {primp}ed a dresser, adding fun numbers and brilliant twine covered pulls.
Sissie's Shabby Cottage showed how to dress up a table vignette using old shutters and other shabby goodness.
I just love Cedar Hill Ranch's porch with its vintage accents.
Calculating Blessings turned a boring, but free, cabinet into a blue beauty!
Bees Knees Bungalow made a really unique and awesome jewelry holder--love this idea!
The Vintage Farmhouse gave some extra charm to some old books.

Potentially Beautiful {primp}ed a beautiful dresser using paint and book pages.
My Third True Love used old map pages and a sharpie to make this super cute tray.

Now grab a button and show me what you've primped!

Happy 4th!

I hope everyone has a happy 4th of July!  We will be taking the weekend off to spend with family, refresh in the lake, and eat lots of smores.  I'll be back next week to reveal a table I just finished that I'm in love with, I hope you will be too!

And since I didn't decorate for the 4th this year, I had to borrow this fabulous photo.

another use for boots

Okay, so what do you do when you buy the cutest boots in the spring for your daughter to wear in the fall and when you pull them out you realize they are both the right foot and you cannot return or exchange them?  Well, you make them into a planter of course!

True story.  These were too cute to toss so I decided to punch some holes in the bottom and turn them into a home for pretty flowers.  Just add dirt, flowers and water often.
Now, I get to look at them daily on my
newly {primp}ed porch.

{primp}ing a porch

I've been busy primping my back porch.
Now that it is summer, we've been spending a lot of time here, talking, reading, and barbecuing, and I wanted to primp it up a bit to make it more comfy and inviting.

I've had the main pieces of furniture for years, but just recently added the brown wicker chair, which was thrifted--along with this pretty pillow, it's made out of burlap that's been embroidered on, and kind of reminds me of something you'd find in anthropologie.
I didn't know what I would do with this cool wood bucket with it's wire accent, but I'm glad I didn't pass it up at the thrift store.  It now houses some pretty purple flowers.
The blue bird  and yellow rosette pillows are from Target, and the blue striped table cloth is from a really cute consignment store in St. George, UT, called Urban Renewal.  But I've recently seen it here and here.

My sister-in-law found this very distressed and chippy cart on wheels--I have no idea what it was used for but she thought it looked like my style.
I'll share more about these boots in my next post, and how they came to be a planter.
It's cozy and comfy here now, with little pops of color, and there is plenty of seating for everyone--if you need me, you can find me here for about the next 2 months.
Now go forth and primp!

Don't forget about my first ever linky party! If you have something to share, that you have primped, please go here!
